Support For All

I have some exciting news! I’d like to officially announce that my Going Blind Support Group is now taking sign-ups! I have a really great team of optometrists behind me, and three individuals who represent the unfortunate process of going blind. I am the fully blind representative, Jacob is in the early stages of going blind representative, and Elisa is in the thick of going blind. She has just had to give up her career. We wish Elisa all the best as she transitions into her new role as a representative for our support group.

I’d like to also introduce Micheal our resident optometrist, local to the Cheltenham area. He brings with him a wealth of experience including 25 years as a children’s optometrist. I hope that his contributions to the support group help you find the reassurance you need to live your lives or help your children live lives that enable them to thrive.

Now, I’d like to say almost straight off the bat that this is going to be a very emotional experience for all of those involved. Becoming legally blind is an extremely tough experience and it will change the way you see life and how you live. People in our support group are going to be going through some extremely difficult experiences, and it will be hard not to feel for them or put yourselves in their shoes. This is in no way going to be an easy process, but I hope that it helps make life that much easier for everyone.

I’d also like to introduce Samantha, who will be responsible for conducting routine eye tests in the Bentleigh area. She will be on-site at every meeting to help analyse people’s sight and give everyone accurate information about the health of their eyes and what they can do.

I hope that with our experienced team, we will be able to support you and your families at this tough time. It’s not going to be easy, but we’re going to be here for you.
